Therapeutic objective for therapy with a ventricular assist device (VAD).
The patient receives the VAD as a temporary bridge if the own heart can recover as a result of the relief. As soon as the own heart can supply the body with sufficient blood and oxygen, the system is removed and the patient lives on with his/her own heart.
