The 100th EXCOR® Patient in Spain

In Spain, the 100th child was recently supported with an EXCOR® VAD (ventricular assist device).

The system was implanted in a 3-year-old boy in Córdoba, who is recovering well in the first month after implantation. His heart even regained part of its functionality. The child suffered from dilated cardiomyopathy, and it was decided to support his heart with the EXCOR® pump after his condition worsened.
The University Hospital "Reina Sofía" (Hospital Universitario Reina Sofía) in Córdoba is one of five institutions in the country that uses the EXCOR® system to treat its patients. In Córdoba, VADs from Berlin Heart have been implanted for 18 years. In total, the hearts of 280 patients nationwide have already been supported with EXCOR® VAD systems. We are very proud that 100 children are now among them, and we congratulate the pediatric cardiology team of the Hospital Universitario Reina Sofía on this milestone, which was achieved thanks to their great dedication.
¡Enhorabuena!
